The NEREG Epilepsy and Seizure Book club is begining to meet again in November and the first book of the year comes from an author living with nonepileptic seizures.

The Softest Blade: The Heavy, The Half-Way, and The Healing is a raw, confessional poetry collection by Matina Alexis that traces a journey from buried trauma to self‑acceptance, blending personal narrative with universal themes of resilience and healing.
Matina Alexis is a poet and writer whose work centers on trauma, healing, and the quiet strength of rebuilding from within. Her own diagnosis of psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES) revealed repressed childhood trauma, shaping her understanding of pain, resilience, and self‑compassion.
